Expanding Our Impact: Growth of Canada SCORES' National Board
At the Annual General Meeting of Canada SCORES, held on Monday, February 10th, 2025, our organization took continued strategic steps towards our future as a leader in the supportive youth development space across Canada.
We are proud to announce the expansion of our National Board of Directors as we look forward with excitement to periods of continued growth and impact in the lives of vulnerable children and youth in our communities. With the success of our programs across British Columbia and Ontario, the addition of new members to our Board represents an important milestone in our commitment to expanding access to free, high-quality after-school programs for vulnerable children and youth across the country.
In January 2024, we marked the 10-year anniversary of Canada SCORES Vancouver, and with that, the official establishment of Canada SCORES Toronto. Our two affiliates are now stronger than ever, and this growth has been matched by the strengthening of our National Board. We are thrilled to welcome three new directors from British Columbia and four new directors from Ontario, bringing the total number of members to fourteen—nearly doubling the size of the Board. We wish to thank and recognize the many contributions of outgoing Director, John Mast, who served the Board for an incredible ten-year period, and was instrumental in shaping the organization to this point.
This expansion reflects the increasing demand for our services and the positive impact that our programs are having on young people in our communities. The diversity of skill sets and experiences that these new directors bring will be invaluable as we work to continue growing and improving the programs that make a difference in the lives of so many.
Jon Lutz, Founder and Board Chair of Canada SCORES, shared his excitement for the year ahead saying, "We are entering a new chapter in the history of Canada SCORES. The growth of our National Board is a testament to the energy, expertise, and passion that we have for supporting children and youth across the country. With this incredible group of individuals, each bringing unique skills and perspectives, we are more confident than ever in our ability to expand and elevate our impact. The future is bright for Canada SCORES, and I couldn’t be more excited for what we will accomplish together in the coming year."
As we look ahead, we are energized by the new leadership and perspectives that will help guide our national expansion and ensure that more children and youth across Canada can access the support they need to thrive. With our dynamic Board, we’re ready for the next chapter of growth and success for Canada SCORES and the communities we serve.
