Kevin began his journey with Canada SCORES Vancouver as a volunteer in December 2013. He was a member of the voluntary development board, where he helped manage the organization’s website. After visiting the Canada SCORES’ kids on Day 1, he was immediately captivated by the program and started to volunteer as a soccer coach. His passion, dedication and commitment to the program only grew as he became more and more involved. One of his most memorable contributions to date was his involvement in helping organize Canada SCORES Vancouver’s inaugural corporate cup.

Nick joined Canada SCORES in January 2024 charged with the responsibility of launching Canada SCORES Toronto. Immediately prior to joining the organization, Nick served as the Chief Marketing & Development Officer at Golf Ontario. Nick’s experience over the last almost twenty years also includes leadership roles at Toronto Metropolitan University, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and Rugby Canada.

Sarah McCarthy - Program Coordinator

Sarah started as a Program Leader with Canada Scores in 2020 but their experience with leading youth in recreational settings began a decade before when they started coaching soccer with their local soccer club. Sarah has been playing soccer since they were 6 years old, and also refereed the game for 7 years. Aside from their passion for soccer, Sarah values the power of writing and empowerment through education. Sarah is a writer of both creative and academic works and has attained a Bachelor’s degree in Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies and Sociology, and a Social Justice Certificate. The nature of SCORES programming aligns perfectly with Sarah's passions and their drive to nurture communities allowing youth to grow and thrive.

Jon Lutz, Board Chair & Secretary

Jon Lutz - Board Chair & Secretary

VP, Strategy, Ops & Finance, Electronic Arts Inc. 

Jon joined Electronic Arts Europe in 1998, the perfect fit for him as a videogame-enthusiast. Since then, he has been in various roles spanning the publishing, online, studio and corporate divisions. During his career at Electronic Arts, Jon has been based in London UK, Redwood Shores CA, Los Angeles CA and most recently Vancouver, BC. Since moving to Vancouver in 2006, Jon has held roles as VP, CFO, EA Canada; VP, CFO, EA SPORTS; VP, CFO, EA Labels Worldwide; and most recently assumed the role as VP, Strategy, Ops & Finance for Electronic Arts Inc.

Daniel Gumprich - Vice Chair

VP, Corporate Development, Solus Trust 

Daniel has over 20 years of leadership experience in professional services, public company, and public sector environments. Daniel is currently a Strategic Consultant at Healthcare Benefit Trust which provides group health and welfare benefits on behalf of participating employers for nearly 100,000 individuals employed in health care and social services in British Columbia and the Yukon. Prior to joining HBT, Daniel spent 8 years as Chief Financial Officer at Sterling Shoes, a Vancouver-based footwear retailer with over 160 stores across Canada. Previous to Sterling, Daniel spent 11 years at PwC in their corporate finance, transaction services, audit and advisory practices.

Partner, PwC

Garry was raised in East Vancouver by immigrant parents who were guided by their vision of hard work and dedication to providing opportunities for their children. He is a father of two children who both love to play soccer and Garry has been fortunate to be able to volunteer his time to coach both children and their teammates. His wife, Tonia, is an elementary school teacher who has a passion for working with children and she has had a great deal of experience with children and families that are similar to the beneficiaries of the Canada SCORES program.

HR Consultant 

Rolanda is an HR leader with 20 years of international experience in the tech industry. Rolanda is an HR consultant who partners with tech industry clients to develop their people programs. Prior to her current role, she was Sr. Director of HR at Electronic Arts, supporting EA’s Frostbite and Create business units. Rolanda has also held HR leadership roles at Radical Entertainment, Hydrogenics and Scientific-Atlanta. Rolanda holds a Bachelors of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.

John Mast - Director

Sr. Director, Global Cruise Marketing, Expedia 

John Mast is the Sr. Director, Global Cruise Marketing responsible for leading the marketing strategy and organization across the cruise line of business for the Expedia Inc. brands globally.  This includes Expedia, Expedia Cruises, Travelocity, Orbitz, AARP and white label partnerships.  Mast is an accomplished multi-channel marketing and franchising executive with over 20 years’ experience leading teams and building brands. During his career, he’s contributed to the growth of brands such as Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Lines, Expedia CruiseShipCenters, Aeroplan, Magic Johnson Enterprises, AARP and Mikes Hard Lemonade. Mast holds a Bachelors Degree (BBA) in Marketing and Communications from Simon Fraser University and is a Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) with the International Franchising Association.  In addition, he proudly serves as a founding board member for Canada Scores Vancouver, a not-for-profit after school program for vulnerable youth in elementary schools, and is also an enthusiastic leader of his son’s Scout Troup.

Director of Franchise Quality, Minecraft, Microsoft Corp 

Matt was born in Hong Kong before moving to Canada at an early age. He grew up playing sports with his older brother and friends. Matt played sports for his high school teams which included basketball, volleyball, tennis, and badminton. He won a Provincial Championship in badminton (yes, it's a real sport) in 2001, and that happens to be the only highlight in his athletic career. Matt then went on to coach youth sports and work with youth-at-risk for the City of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation for 10 years.

Austin Nairn - Director

Regional Manager of Partnerships, BDC

Austin Nairn is the Regional Manager of Partnerships at BDC, Canada’s only bank devoted exclusively to helping entrepreneurs. Prior to joining BDC, he was Vice President of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade and Executive Director of the World Trade Centre Vancouver. Austin is a former business owner and has leveraged his passion for entrepreneurship to help hundreds of companies to successfully grow domestically and internationally. Austin holds an MBA from Queen’s University, a Bachelor of Commerce from UNBC, and was a Business in Vancouver Forty Under 40 Award recipient in 2019. A passionate community builder and volunteer, Austin has mentored emerging leaders throughout his career. When he’s not in the office, you’ll find him up a mountain, at the soccer pitch or on the water.

Devin Kanhai - Director

Executive Director, Licensing Education at the UBC Sauder School of Business Real Estate Division

Devin Kanhai is the Executive Director, Licensing Education at the UBC Sauder School of Business Real Estate Division, where he oversees the pre- and post-licensing education programs for real estate professionals in British Columbia and Saskatchewan, among other responsibilities. He also teaches business law in the accounting program at the Sauder School of Business. Prior to joining UBC, Devin practiced corporate law at a national law firm in Vancouver. Devin grew up playing a number of sports competitively and has experienced the power that sports can have in a young person’s life. Devin’s wife is a teacher at an inner-city school in Surrey, BC, and he has witnessed the transformational power that schools can have, particularly in lower income neighbourhoods.

Our Ambassadors 

Erin Mcleod

Erin McLeod 

McLeod has been a fixture on the Canadian National team since 2002. Two time W League Champion during her time with the Vancouver Whitecaps, her incredible professional career at Washington Freedom, Chicago Red Stars and since 2014 the Houston Dash are testament to her incredible strength as a player and team mate.  Off the pitch Erin is active with many organizations including Right to Play and Grass2Gold as well as being a talented artist in her own right. "Canada SCORES Vancouver gives children from vulnerable backgrounds the opportunity to express themselves through art and sport; this is an organization that can really make a difference.”

Lee Tregonning

Lee Tregonning

Lee was born in Aberdare, Wales and from an early age he both played and coached with the professional soccer club Cardiff City. Lee went on to play professionally with Cardiff City FC and Luton Town FC for several years, earning 22 international caps (a national accreditation) for his country.

Emily Zurrer

Emily Zurrer

One of the premiere football players in Canada and an integral member of the Canadian Women's soccer Team. Currently the captain of Jitex in BK Sweden, and former player of Vancouver Whitecaps and Seattle Reign.  “This is an organization I can really get excited about, combining soccer and poetry in a unique blend that produces amazing results time and time again.”

Britanny Timko

Brittany Timko

Brittany has played in three World Cups and two Olympics. Native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Brittany has started her professional career at the young age of 16. Brittany has played on the Vancouver Whitecaps, clubs in Australia and Sweden and the Seattle Sounders Women.  “This is a program that really works and is committed to benefitting the kids in our community that need the most help.”
