Calls for Board Interest

Tuesday, October 1st, 2024

Canada SCORES, a national registered nonprofit organization, providing FREE after-school programming to vulnerable children and youth in partnership with local school districts, is currently seeking interested individuals to serve on the Board of Directors for a three-year term commencing February 2025.

The existing Board includes Directors from the British Columbia region, and with the expansion of our programs into the Greater Toronto Area within Ontario, we wish to augment our Board with diverse new members from across the GTA and Lower Mainland.

Canada SCORES envisions a world where all youth find their voice, achieve their goals, and reach their full potential. We inspire vulnerable children to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world. Our goal is to provide a safe and motivating space for youth to gain the confidence to make a change in not only themselves but their communities.

We achieve significant impact by using a unique combination of soccer, poetry, and community projects to create a singular comprehensive program that emphasizes physical activity, health and wellness, self-expression, academic engagement, and community involvement. Our year-round programming inspires youth to lead healthy lives and gain the confidence to make changes in their communities.

If you share our values, identify with our mission, and have a strong passion for the sport of soccer, literacy, and giving back to the community, we would like to hear from you.

We are searching for strategic thinkers with demonstrated expertise and experience in:

  • Youth Development through Sport (soccer), Education, or Community Service;

  • Public School Education;

  • Literary arts;

  • Growth Marketing; and

  • Fundraising.

The role of a Canada SCORES Board member is to act in good faith and with integrity and an open mind toward the best interests of the organization. The Board is responsible for upholding our bylaws, determining policy, developing and evaluating strategic priorities, and supporting fundraising initiatives to achieve approved annual budgets.

The Board currently consists of 8 directors serving staggered three-year terms, with an option to extend for additional three-year terms. We are looking to add new directors in 2025 representing the two regions we operate in.

Virtual Board meetings are hosted quarterly, while Board committee and workgroup meetings are held in varied frequency as required.

Expressions of Interest must include (1) a completed online application form, and (2) a current CV/resume uploaded within the online application form. Expressions of interest will be welcomed prior to October 31st, 2024 at 5:00 pm EST. For more information, contact our Executive Directors.
